System Performance

Interpretation Note

Results for the 2020/21 fiscal year should be interpreted with caution. There were fewer emergency department visits early in the COVID-19 pandemic, which contributed to a lower rate for the indicator below in 2020/21.

Emergency Department Visits By Home Care Patients In the Last 30 Days Of Life

This indicator shows the percentage of patients receiving publicly funded home care who had an unplanned visit to the emergency department in the last 30 days of life. A lower percentage is better. Such visits can be an extremely difficult experience for patients and could indicate they did not receive the care they needed in the community.
