To continuously improve the quality of health care in Ontario, we use established scientific methods to analyze evidence and develop assessments of new and existing health care services and medical devices.
These reviews, called health technology assessments, also include recommendations to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care on whether these services and devices should be publicly funded.
The Ontario Health Technology Advisory Committee, a group of evidence-based experts from across the province, reviews our health technology assessments and then, after careful deliberation, makes their final recommendation to us.
