The menopausal transition is associated with various symptoms that can impact physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The risk of certain health conditions, such as cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis, may also be elevated during this natural stage of life. When seeking care for menopausal symptoms, people often encounter barriers and inequities that adversely affect their quality of life and experiences with the health system.
Ontario Health is working to produce a new quality standard on menopause. The quality standard will address care for people across the menopausal transition, including perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause, in all health care settings.
The work on this quality standard starts in: October 2024.
